Strength

Thirsty desert
Hungry wind
No sign in life
Flower dares to rise
Challenge all the odds
The real beauty spirit is the beauty that survives
Never beg for water from the ground
Enough the kindness of the night sky
To revitalize life

Death

Death
We all have seen a lot flower in a vase cheerfully standing up. It is natural. Beautiful flower. Does it intrigue you to think differently on how life is?

Andrea Kertesz’s photograph of death tulips portrays such a feeling of being hopeless, humble and bending towards all power. Its contrast of what people used to see will make things a lot of different.

Death in a way is natural. One death, one mourns. One death, another one celebrates. One death, one ignores… all have much meaning in flower arrangement. Up to you to find meaning or just leave it straight and sparklingly beautiful

Less is More

Less is More

This is such simple that it is so difficult to achieve. Where is the borderline? Where is to judge whether it is “enough”. For me beauty is more or less is different from one another.

License to Dare

License to Dare

We all can make the place we live we work to be more livable and enjoyable. With a few touches of object we can change the whole mood of the house and the room. I was born from a poor family. Our daily life was to find ways to feed everyone in the house. We hardly paid attention to beauty. I was brought up being hungry for something beautiful that could decorate my place – art pieces. When I had money of my own I started to buy many objects I like. It turned out to be disaster of wrong combination. I started to realize that what I needed was the combination of things that put together to make it tasteful and beautiful.

Life Arrangement

Life Arrangement

I believe that everyday is the best day that I can get. It maybe because of luck, maybe my ability to, or maybe from the decision I have made in the past. It doesn’t matter. It makes the whole path complete in itself with my ability to get it through, in the condition that I can live with. I make the most out of the day arrives. It doesn’t matter whether it is bad or good day – it is the best day; at least I am still alive to see the day comes and passes by. Every day that I face. If I am brave enough to face it, and take it as it comes, it will certainly lead to another day which will be the best one, always.

Hanamai

Hanamai

Yearning for each others

Caressing with passion

Clinging with zeal

pleasant together forever

I love Hanamai. It is always quick and easy to do. The form gives amazing arrangement with lots of movement and feelings. Slight change of the curve can just create another feeling.

Cally Lilly comes is differnt colors. The twigs are usually straight. To bend the stem, grip your both thumbs gently but firmly while you use your palm to bend the stems to the desired direction. Do not starply bend. Hanamai is generally flexible, you can use one container or can use 2 contaniners. Movement can be as freed as you want. Look for the interaction of the plants. Put your feeling and your emothion into it. It is as dynamic as your emotion will call.

Real Beauty of Imperfection

Real Beauty of Imperfection

Imperfection is real beauty
Food for imagination
Ego with humility
Life with curiosity
True soul in humanity

Ikebana is the art of Japanese flower arrangement.
There are strict rules in how and what to be arranged. I studied from a Japanese teacher from Ohara School of Ikebana. I followed the rules and learned the rules. Along the way, I have found the beauty of Ikebana is not the way the rules apply but the philosophy. I understand while I look at every flower and every leaf with respect.

Equipment

Equipment for Ikebana is simple. You only need a vase of any forms, Kenzan (Sharp point holders) for low and shallow containers and a pair of Hasami (scissors or clippers). It is suggested not to use floral foam. It is not very good for environment. There are many techniques that can be used to hold flowers naturally.

Hasami:

Ikebana

June 15th, 2009

I am always fond of art. Since young I had always dreamt of drawing and painting; unfortunately I always failed in art classes. I attempted the first oil painting when I was 40. I went to an art shop in Ho Chi Minh City with friends. We paid them for blank canvases and oil paint. My friends painted very well. They are amateur artists in a way. Mine was horrible. It was so pathetic. I could not even control the paints on the canvas. Being frustrated with my ability, I started reading how-to books, art books, art history books, etc. It didn’t help that much on my skills but it did make me expose to various art forms and learned how to appreciate them.

I told myself that I had to learn how to do it. I would never give in. I believe when we try, there must be some good results. I decided to take course in art. There were not many options that I could do. I didn’t have money to pay for private tutoring so I decided to join children art class. The class was quite practical. The instructor taught me some techniques and asked me to draw. He commented; I made correction. There were children as young as 4 years old in the class. It was quite embarrassing at the beginning but it turned out to be great experience. At last I knew that I could draw and paint, not as good as professional but it is good enough to express myself. I had more confidence. At last I learned how to draw, I learned how to paint, I learned ceramic and at the end I learned Ikebana. I had learned to trust the emotion and expressed it the way I want.
